Safa Mirzayev: “Decent man will be elected as many times as people wish”

Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev-APA. First part of discussions on referendum act for amendments and annexes to the Constitution concluded at the meeting of Parliament’s standing commissions on legal policy and state building and human rights, APA reports.
MPs Azay Guliev, Mader Musayev, Rovshan Rzayev, Siyavush Novruzov, Nizami Isgandarov, Yevda Abramov supported the proposals sounded in referendum act. MPs Y. Abramov and Panah Husseinov proposed to add article on restoration of proportional election system to the draft.
Safa Mirzayev, Head of Parliament’s Office took stance on addition of article “Azerbaijan is a social state” to the Constitution and noted that measures were taken in this direction and it would happen in the near future.
Mirzayev spoke about Article on prolonging presidential term. He stated that prolonging presidential and parliamentary elections was applicable for period when large-scale military operations conduct.
“As regards cancellation of Article envisaged limitation on presidential term more than twice, we do not intend to use various versions to keep our wished person in power. A decent man will be elected as many times as people wish”, he said.
Working Group told APA that referendum act will be submitted to the parliament for consideration.
The draft law is expected to discuss at the meeting tomorrow.
