Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva – APA. The Institute of History of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and Azerbaijani Organization of History organized on Saturday in Baku an international symposium on the history of Azerbaijani statehood traditions. The two-day symposium was dedicated to 90th anniversary of Azerbaijan People’s Republic and liberation of Baku.
Director of the Institute of History Yagub Mahmudov said English, French and German troops tried to tackle liberation of Baku and even Germany threatened Turkey to end alliance with it, if Turkish army supported liberation of Baku. The historian said Turkey didn’t abstain from support to Azerbaijan even under such conditions.
Mahmudov said Baku was liberated from the Bolsheviks and Armenian Dashnaks on September 15, 1918 by the Caucasian Islamic Army led by Turkish commander Nuru Pasha. The Caucasian Islamic Army brought the city under its control on the same day.

Turkey’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic called this event as a triumph of Turkish army. He said it was important to write and to save the history. “We have not to forget these pages of history”.
The symposium is continuing its work.
