Baku. Lachin Sultanova–APA. Azerbaijani, Russian and Moldovan political scientists came together at the videoconference on the ways of solution to Transdniestrian and Karabakh problems. Head of the Political Innovation and Technology Center Mubariz Ahmadoglu said Russia’s view on the solution to the conflicts in Georgia was different from its view on the conflicts in Moldova and Azerbaijan, APA reports. “Russia has a plan of action and events occurred in Georgia are the first part of this plan. There is Kozack plan agreed by the Russian and Moldovan presidents for the solution to the Transdniestrian conflict”. The political scientist said Nagorno Karabakh conflict was also reanimated. He related it with the Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev’s phone call to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev just after the US Vice President Richard Cheney’s visit to Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister’s visit to Russia three days later. Ahmadoglu said Russia started the second and third phases of the conflict settlement.
Moldovan political scientist Tudor Sorochanu considers that it is impossible to make parallels between the conflicts in the post-soviet space. Only thing simplified these problems is that those were created as a result of USSR collapse. The scientist said Georgian events involved the international community in the solution to these conflicts.
Russian political scientist Aleksey Vlasov said four conflicts were spoken about in the post-Soviet area within 17 years, now their number reduced by two. Vlasov was optimistic about the settlement of Transdnestrian conflict, but said he could not say the same concerning Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
“None of the plans offered for the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict since 1994 satisfied the sides. The plan of settlement should satisfy not only Armenia and Azerbaijan, but also all parties of the process of negotiations and mediators,” he said.
The political scientist considers that return of the territories around Nagorno Karabakh occupied by Armenia could be the beginning of the settlement.
President of Social Research Fund Rashad Rzaguliyev said that the South Caucasus was a great problem for Russia, Turkey, Iran, European Union and US and added that the world community would sooner or later reach a consensus on the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
