Baku. Elnur Mammadli–APA. Azerbaijan Democratic Party (ADP) held its large meeting attended by chairs of the party’s Baku district organizations. US Vice President Dick Cheney’s visit to Azerbaijan and other GUAM countries, Turkish President Abdullah Gul’s visit to Armenia and latest developments in the South Caucasus were discussed at the meeting, the party’s press-service told APA.
The participants focused on the upcoming presidential elections in Azerbaijan and some opposition parties’ joint statement on the back of elections as well. ADP leadership considers that some opposition parties were wrong to issue joint statement not recognizing the election results in advance in the period of increasing threats against Azerbaijan’s independence when such actions are damaging the democratic situation.

It was emphasized that the parties’ action damaged opposition’s further strategy and serious cooperation opportunities. It was recommended to the party’s leadership to continue efforts to achieve opposition’s integration around the real and strategic interests.
