Ayaz Mutallibov: â€œIlham Aliyev has no alternative in the presidential electionsâ€

Baku. Ramil Mammadli â€“ APA. â€œI admit that the activity of Azerbaijan Social Democratic Party has weakened. This is connected with the problems inside the party. Opinion about the part in the society has changed,â€ co-chair of Azerbaijan Social Democratic Party (ASDP), ex-president Ayaz Mutallibov told APA. He said that there was divergence in ASDP concerning the participation in the elections and the plenary session of the partyâ€™s Central Committee clarified it.
â€œI do not admit the statements that my influence has weakened. I am in Moscow, and the party functions in Azerbaijan. Of course, Araz Alizadeh should be directly engaged in managing the party,â€ he said.
Ayaz Mutallibov said there was a need for reforms in the party, he did not admit the statements that ASDP was separating.
â€œThere is a need for reforms in all structures of ASDP. I know that Elshan Manafov is right to some extent. But Araz Alizadeh always praised Elshan Manafov. I do not know Elshan Manafov personally, but I am familiar with his interviews. I suppose that the misunderstanding in the party will be solved. There is nothing tragic here. I regret that some persons left ASDP,â€ he said.
Ayaz Mutallibov also took a stance on the presidential elections in the country.
â€œAraz Alizadeh also said several times that Ilham Aliyev has no alternative in the presidential elections. One should admit it. Indeed Ilham Aliyev has no alternative in the elections,â€ he said.
Former president clarified his returning to Azerbaijan.
â€œIt is very hard, tragic to live in migration. My status should be determined before I return to Azerbaijan. I am the son of this nation, too. I was the first president of Azerbaijan. I did not do anybody harm. It is very hard to live abroad, no one can bear it,â€ he said.
Mutallibov mentioned that he had been living abroad for a long time.
â€œI have no passport. No one is concerned about the life of the first Azerbaijani president. I do not want this problem to be raised on the level of international organizations,â€ he said.
