Member of ASDP Political Bureau: “Araz Alizadeh should leave politicsâ€
“The problem of social democracy in Azerbaijan was connected with Araz Alizadeh. Araz Alizadeh did his best to destroy social ideology in Azerbaijan. Such politicians should leave political arena. The results of the party at the recent parliamentary elections show that ASDP should be seriously renewed, the persons understanding the country’s realities should lead the party. It is impossible to carry out reforms when politically illiterate persons lead the party,†he said.
Manafov said his supporters in ASDP would be in favor of these reforms. “Otherwise I will leave ASDP and start establishing the Democratic Leftist Party together with my supportersâ€. The ideology secretary said documents were submitted to ASDP Central Committee not for discussions, but for approval and the Committee held its plenums not every three months as it was considered before, but for three-four times within two years. “The situation is that only 10 of 29 members of the Central Committee attend the plenumsâ€.
He said he discussed these issues with ASDP co-chair Ayaz Mutallibov. “I talked with Ayaz Mutallibov on August 18 and learned was the last plenum’s decisions agreed with him or not. It became clear that Ayaz Mutallibov had no information about the plenum’s decision. Generally Mutallibov expressed dissatisfaction with the processes inside the party. Araz Alizadeh’s action damages the party’s imageâ€.
Manafov said he and Araz Alizade dissented from opinion about joining the elections. “ASDP can join the elections even with small opportunities. I advocated for joining the electionsâ€.
ASDP chairman Araz Alizadeh considers the accusations as groundless. “I can’t shut mouth of anyone. Elshan Manafov is clever and competent guy. He didn’t voice these accusations at the plenum and expressed his opinion after the votingâ€. Alizadeh said Manafov has not been removed from his posts and party yet. “He needs to submit written resignation. He should leave the party and then to establish his partyâ€.
