Samad Seyidov: We will take active part in discussions of Armenia’s PACE commitments
“Russian parliamentarian Vera Oskina touched the issue on Azerbaijan in her report “the Role of women in South Caucasus. This report is very necessary for us, the parliamentarian noted.
Seyidov also stated that Leo Platvoet’s report on missing persons will be discussed in the session and stressed the importance of reflection of the tragedy that Azerbaijan faced as the result of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The implementation of commitments taken by the CE members will be discussed at PACE January session. Samad Seyidov said that Azerbaijan will take an active part in discussions.
“Considering the discussion of implementation of Armenian commitments, we will state Azerbaijan’s position on settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, he said.
The MP noted that sub-committee on Nagorno Karabakh conflict will hold meeting within the session.
“The Council of Europe always focuses on Nagorno Karabakh conflict. This is the main topic of discussions at sub-Committee level, he noted.
Samad Seyidov said that Azerbaijan’s position will be announced during the discussions on human rights and freedom of speech.
Answering the question on the date of monitoring cultural monuments in Azerbaijani occupied territories, Samad Seyidov said that Azerbaijan is eager and ready to receive the mission.
“We want the mission to get acquainted with monuments in the South Caucasus and monitor not only Azerbaijan but also Armenia and Georgia, he noted.
Touching upon the prolongation of the mission, the parliamentarian noted that the experts have not defined how the investigation will be implemented. Samad Seyidov considers that the main thing is joint activity of Azerbaijan with the CE member states.
“Azerbaijan is an inseparable part of Europe and plenipotentiary member of the CE. It means that any issue on the agenda of Europe is also important for Azerbaijan. For example, the use of energy as an instrument of pressure is broadly discussed nowadays. Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Georgia are mentioned in these issues. Surely Azerbaijan can not keep apart form this and we should express our opinion and position. Azerbaijan turned to a country of alternative energy supply to Europe, he said. /APA/
