Ali Hasanov: â€œBuilding of civil society in Azerbaijan is a priority of current state policyâ€

I am ready to hold open and transparent discussions on all issues related to social life of Azerbaijan and activity of NGOs in this fieldâ€, Head of the Public Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov said in his keynote speech at the conference entitled â€œNGO-Government dialogue in strengthening of civil societyâ€. Hasanov said building of civil society in Azerbaijan was a priority of current state policy. â€œWe donâ€™t conceive our economic achievements and dynamic development of Azerbaijan without political reforms and civil society, without active participation of the citizens in domestic socio-political processesâ€.

He noted that civil society resources, NGOs are the institution realizing the initiatives of the active citizens. â€œNGOs are the institutions determining and suggesting the implementation of public ethic rules. Therefore the government sees the NGOs as the partners.â€

Ali Hasanov said the discussions wouldnâ€™t have a formal character. â€œI donâ€™t see this meeting as a formal one. Proposals by the NGOs will be recorded and analyzed. These proposals will determine the strategy of future relations with the civil society institutions. The problems concerning NGOs concern the Head of State and the government agencies as wellâ€.
