Azerbaijani Parliament makes amendments in law on “Public Television and Radio Broadcasting”

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. Azerbaijani Parliament made amendments in law on “Public Television and Radio Broadcasting”. APA reports that speaking about the draft law chairman of the parliament’s committee for culture Nizami Jafarov said that 11 amendments were offered to the law.

According to the amendments, the word of “TV series” was removed from program schedules. According to the last version, conditions must be created for Public TV to translate the best foreign films, documentaries, cartoons in Azerbaijani language and broadcast with subtitles Azerbaijani language. The volume of films broadcasting with subtitles in Azerbaijani language without translation is being determined by relevant state agency.

According to the other amendment, authorities of the Public Television’s Broadcasting Council were increased. The Council was empowered to determine technical equipments and quality standards of broadcasting.

Amendments to draft law were put to the vote and have been adopted.
