Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. PACE Monitoring Committee’s co-rapporteur Joseph Debono Grech and Pedro Agramunt, who are on a visit to Azerbaijan, have today met with a group of representatives of the opposition parties.

ADP told APA that APFP chairman Ali Karimli, chairman of Musavat Party Isa Gambar, ALP chairman Avaz Temirkhan and ADP deputy chairman Hasret Rustamov participated in the meeting. The main themes were about the human rights and democratization in Azerbaijan.

The PACE position on Azerbaijan was criticized at the meeting. The oppositionists said that in recent years the Council of Europe has not commented any incidents on violation of human rights in Azerbaijan, has not conducted monitoring on state of people detained for their political views, falsifications have not been condemned during the elections and no necessary steps have been demanded from the government.

The representatives of the opposition parties called the PACE co-rapporteurs to determine their position and make a report on anti-democratic steps in Azerbaijan. At the same time, the opposition representatives also said that no serious monitoring has been conducted in Azerbaijan. The representatives also condemned the text of the co-rapporteurs’ report. The PACE co-rapporteurs said that they must respect their principles and must not justify the violation of rules in Azerbaijan.

They didn’t accept remark on PACE, but said they respect the positions of the opposite side.
