Opposition holds press conference for local and foreign journalists

Baku. Ramil Mammadli â€“ APA. The Public Chamberâ€™s Coordination Council held a press conference for the local and foreign journalists. Member of the Coordination Council Rahim Hajibeyli spoke about the socio-political situation in the country and importance of the foreign mediaâ€™s attention to Azerbaijan. He informed the journalists about the Public Chamber, which unites several opposition parties and representatives of civil society.

Chairman of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Ali Karimli said they supported democratic elections and anti-corruption efforts. He mentioned the economic policy and political interests of PC. He said the persons detained during the PCâ€™ protest actions are still in jail. He said the issue related to hunger strike would also be discussed.

Musavat Partyâ€™s leader Isa Gambar said democratic forces had no chance to assemble long time. He said some members of political parties, including Arif Hajili, Tural Abbasli, are in jail. â€œWe demand to release these people from the arrest and to give them an opportunity to watch this song contest. We offer to the authorities, if they hold the most popular European song contest, they are able to observe the European values in the field of democracy and human rightsâ€.

Gambar said PC would continue struggling and the actions wouldnâ€™t be interrupted.

Then the opposition leaders answered the questions of journalists.
