Arif Hajili addresses President Ilham Aliyev

APA reports that in his appeal, Hajili said that Azerbaijanâ€™s victory in Eurovision Song Contest, holding this popular contest in our country was an important event for our state and nation: â€œIn my opinion, we must use this moment, when the worldâ€™s attention focused on Azerbaijan, as an opportunity for increasing the influence of our people and country and strengthening their place in the world community. I watch with sorrow from the jail that how we miss this opportunity. It is no coincidence that our notorious neighbors, including Armenians, started more intensive and aggressive activity to realize their dirty intentions on the eve of Eurovisionâ€.

Hajili noted that the actions outside the Azerbaijanâ€™s consulate in Tabriz, CIS Moscow summit are the announcement of threats that Azerbaijan can face in the future. â€œNow, may be these days the society needs civil peace and mutual understanding more than ever before. As a person, who devoted whole life to the struggle that Azerbaijan could take its worthy place in the world as an independent, strong and democratic country, I am very concerned about that our names are declined in the issues which damage the international influence of our country in this sensitive moment.â€

Hajili drew attention to the persons arrested during the Public Chamberâ€™s rallies last year and underlined that he was main organizer of the March 12 and April 2 peaceful rallies last year: â€œFour sake of our national interests, I kindly ask You to take steps towards release of April 2 prisoners, except me and the persons, who are considered as political prisoners by local and international rights defense organizationsâ€.
