Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attends 9 May - Victory Day ceremony

The war veterans, representatives of public community, residents of Baku gathered in front of the monument to one of the outstanding commanders of the Great Patriotic War in 1941-1945, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Major-General Hazi Aslanov. The guard of honour lined up there. President Aliyev sincerely greeted the war veterans and congratulated them on the Victory Day.

The Head of State took interest in the problems of the veterans, who passed through the difficult and painful years of 1941-1945. The veterans said they never forgot the attention and care showed to them by nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev. They thanked President Ilham Aliyev for successful continuation of the nationwide leaderâ€™s political course and said they would always support him.

President Aliyev placed a bunch of flowers at the monument and paid tribute to the brave commander and other heroes of Azerbaijan.

The guard of honour paraded before the Supreme Commander-in-Chief under the sounds of martial music.

Ilham Aliyev met with the Hazi Aslanovâ€™s relatives and congratulated them on the Victory Day.

Prime Minister Arthur Rasizadeh, speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament Ogtay Asadov, head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev and other officials attended the ceremony.
