Public Chamber attempts to hold unauthorized rally in Azerbaijani capital

APA reports that members of the Public Chamber marched to the building of Baku City Executive Power from two directions. Police tried to prevent the rally. Members of the Public Chamber moved to the Fountains Square and gathered in the Youths Square.

Participants of the rally demanded to release arrested members of the Public Chamber and discharge a court order on pretrial detention of Ogtay Gulaliyev. Participants chanted various slogans as â€œFree electionâ€, â€œTo provide free assemblyâ€.

Then deputy chairman of Musavat party Tofig Yagublu read the resolution of the rally. After reading the resolution, he said that the rally ended and asked the participants to leave the area. Despite this, participants, chanting slogans, attempted to march toward Istiglaliyyat Street. Police prevented them.

No one was arrested in the rally.

Public Chamber made a decision to hold picket outside the Baku city Executive Power to protest its denial to create conditions for the rally on May 6 in the place demanded by the chamber.
