Draft law on â€œEnsuring rights and freedoms of prisonersâ€ recommended to Azerbaijani Parliament

Baku. Parvin Abbasov â€“ APA. Draft law on â€œEnsuring rights and freedoms of prisonersâ€ was discussed in the third reading at the meeting of the Legal Policy and State-Building Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament.

APA reports that representatives of the OSCE Office in Baku and students of the department of law of the Baku State University participated in the meeting.

Chairman of the Legal Policy and State-Building Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ali Huseynli said that they cooperated with the OSCE Office in Baku on the draft law and the project was brought into compliance with the world standards.

Member of the Committee Chingiz Ganizadeh informed about the project. He said that the draft law, consisting of 4 chapters and 50 articles, regulated the the rights and freedoms of persons held in custody, arrested or detained in accordance with standards established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Azerbaijan Republic. The draft law was recommended to the plenary session of the Azerbaijani Parliament for the third reading.
