Habil Suleymanzadeh – APA. “The Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation (Soros Foundation) will continue grantmaking activity in Azerbaijan next year,” Soros communications manager Rachel Hart told APA. She said the Open Society Foundations, of which OSIAF-Azerbaijan is a part, will continue to provide support from outside the country to efforts to promote open society in Azerbaijan. Rachel Hart said the operations and structure of OSIAF-Azerbaijan are being renewed, but it is too soon to tell what, if any, major differences there will be in OSIAF-Azerbaijan’s activity in the country.

The Open Society Institute (OSI) is a private operating and grantmaking foundation that seeks to promote the development and maintenance of open societies around the world by supporting a range of programs in the areas of educational, social, and legal reform, and by encouraging alternative approaches to complex and often controversial issues. OSIAF-Azerbaijan’s supports civic initiatives in education, rule of law, public health and independent media.

The Foundation was established by philanthropist George Soros.
