Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. Parliamentarians made various proposals at the first meeting of the Azerbaijani parliament’s spring session, APA reports. MP Fazil Mustafa asked speaker Ogtay Asadov to raise issue before the country leadership to award human rights activist Novella Jafaroglu on the occasion of her 70th birthday.

MP Azay Guliyev criticized Iran for interfering in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs. He regarded construction of the oil pipeline from Tabriz to Armenia, Iran’s support for Armenia as open support to the aggressor state.

MP Siyavush Novruzov criticized OSCE’s report on elections and the activity of the Public Chamber set up by the opposition parties and a number of NGOs.
“In some places the organizations called Public Chamber help municipalities, they are not engaged in political activity,” he said.
Siyavush Novruzov commented on Fazil Mustafa’s proposal to award the human rights activist.
“I do not mean concretely the person you mentioned. But such opinion appears about our country due to the activity of the human rights defenders. Have they protected the rights of a teacher or a doctor?” he said.

Speaker Ogtay Asadov said most political parties and NGOs attend PACE from Azerbaijan.
“One does not hear positive opinion from any of them. We should pay attention to these issues,” he said.

MP Vahid Ahmadov underlined the importance of remembering the persons, who voted for Azerbaijan’s independence 20 years ago, taking measures for the protection of their rights.

Zahid Oruj and Fazail Agamali criticized Iran for interfering in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs. Zahid Oruj called on the Azerbaijanis not to travel to Iran. Fazail Agamali said the mullah regime in Iran is pursuing hostile policy with respect to Azerbaijan.
“I propose Azerbaijan to raise the issue of defending the rights of Iranian Azerbaijanis and to investigate the activity of Azerbaijanis getting education in Qum and other cities of Iran”.

Vice Speaker Ziyafat Asgarov spoke about the discussions on the problem of political prisoner. He said there was no concept of political prisoner in any European legal document and Penal Code: “The investigation shows that they intentionally don’t include this issue in the documents of the international organizations and intend to interfere in the domestic issues of other countries. They must not interfere in the internal issues of others. We say that there are not, they say there are. There must be a judge…”

Asgarov also criticized the Council of Europe’s discussions on killing of Christians in the Middle East: “One million Muslims in Azerbaijan were expelled from their homes. Hey, Europe, why you don’t raise this issue? This is a cave culture. Those, who were killed in the Middle East, are human, but those, who were killed in Afghanistan, are not?! How long it can be hided? How long will some embassies play the role of agents?”

MP Igbal Aghazadeh said there was the statue of dictator Hosni Mubarak protested by the Egyptian people in Baku: “There is still no Mammad Emin Rasulzadeh’s monument in Baku despite site was allocated for it long years ago”. The lawmaker called the rise of some service tariffs by the Council of Tariffs yesterday as a wrong step and said it would worsen the social situation of the population”.

MP Malahat Ibrahimgizi requested Ogtay Asadov to send a letter of protest to Iran on behalf of the members of the parliament.
