Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. The Azerbaijani parliament held four meetings, adopted 44 laws and decisions during the autumn session in 2010, speaker Ogtay Asadov said at the first meeting of the spring session of the Azerbaijani parliament, APA reports. He underlined that the spring session will be very tense.
“The reports of the Cabinet of Ministers, Human Rights Commissioner, Chamber of Accounts, reports on municipalities will be heard,” he said.

Discussions started after the plan of legislative affairs of the parliament’s spring session was confirmed. Chairman of the parliament’s committee on international and interparliamentary relations Samad Seyidov spoke about the new composition of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE. Samad Seyidov regarded the restoration of the PACE Subcommittee on Karabakh as one of the important steps and noted that the subcommittee will start functioning in April.

Head of the delegation criticized the activity of the PACE rapporteur on political prisoners in Azerbaijan.
“Mr. Strasser has visited Azerbaijan several times. Our attitude towards him is not bad. But the activity of biased rapporteur on Azerbaijan is inadmissible. We would like the rapporteur to look into the issue of political prisoners in other countries. It is not right to ignore the happenings in the neighboring countries and apply it only to Azerbaijan,” he said.

The meeting continues.
