An extended meeting of the Commission Against Corruption held in accordance with instructions of Azerbaijani President

According to information, the meeting dedicated to the results of the Commission activity in 2010 and the tasks arising from speech of President Ilham Aliyev at the last Cabinet meeting. Senior officials of the Presidential Administration, heads of central executive bodies, law enforcement and other government agencies, educational institutions, Chief Executive of Baku city and other districts of the capital attended at the meeting.

Chairman of the Commission Against Corruption Mehdiyev made a report on progress and challenges ahead. Head of Commission noted that Azerbaijan has made significant strides in socio-economic sphere under leadership President Ilham Aliyev and have been implemented all the planned programs. He also attracted the attention of the members of the congregation and commission shortages and shortfalls that President Ilham Aliyev enumerated at the Cabinet meeting.

At that meeting, preventing monopolistic tendencies in the economy, providing a freely competitive environment, adoption of effective measures against cases of tax evasion, avoidance of artificially inflating prices, termination of unnecessary inspections that hold authorities, more seriously and systemically struggling against bribery and corruption in all areas of life, were identified as main tasks of government by President Ilham Aliyev.

Noting that the Commission meeting is held in accordance with instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, Ramiz Mehdiyev said: "The President believes that negative developments cast a shadow on the country’s ongoing creative work undertaken in the economic, social and political reforms and damages business reputation of Azerbaijan. According to the President, struggle against unnecessary inspections, bribery and corruption in the country should not be formal, but have to be one of the priorities of the authorities in this field and should be set up effective monitoring and reporting system".

Bringing to the attention of meeting participants request of the Head of State, Head of Administration reported that the President’s Administration and the Commission have received numerous messages about negative facts that exist in the banking, construction, transport , retail, catering, education, health, social protection and other areas, creating artificial barriers to entrepreneurship and valid cause for public discontent, about the shortcomings admitted during the citizens’ reception and consideration of their appeals. He also emphasized the need to study and resolve problems in this area, in a short time.

At the meeting, was expressed many opinions about creating a more enabling environment for business development, termination unnecessary inspections, improving efficiency in the fight against bribery and corruption and was offered to make additions and changes to some laws.

At the meeting, Azerbaijani Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov, Minister of Justice Fikret Mammadov and others made speech with relevant proposals on the implementation of the orders that given by President Ilham Aliyev and liquidating negative facts emphasized in the report.
At a meeting of the commission the appropriate state authorities were given specific instructions.
