Azerbaijani President inaugurates National Flag Museum

Baku – APA. Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva have opened a National Flag Museum today, APA reports quoting AzerTAc.
The museum built in line with presidential order is located in the National Flag Square.
President Ilham Aliyev cut a ribbon and toured the museum.
The museum features flags and emblems of states existed in the territory of Azerbaijan as well as khanates, constitutions of Azerbaijan adopted in past years, postal stamps, banknotes, orders, medals, flags kissed at the inauguration ceremonies by national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev, flag of Supreme Commander-in-chief and ceremonial costumes.

The museum also showcases a Guinness World Records certificate for the tallest flagpole, books photographs and flag hung in the embassy of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in Turkey. President signed a guest book.

The Head of State was informed about reconstruction work around the National Flag Square. President was told that reconstruction work continues around the square. Small parks, rest sites and green zones are being created. The work is being done in accordance with the instructions on the extension of the National Seaside Park given by President Ilham Aliyev at the Cabinet’s meeting on the outcomes of the socio-economic development for nine months of 2010. A separate project will be prepared for the reconstruction of the area next to the State Flag Square. President Ilham Aliyev gave instructions and recommendations.

State Flag Museum was built under the order of President and inaugurated on September 1, 2010. The museum built in the form of an eight-pointed star on the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev is located in the State Flag Square under the pedestal of the flagpole.
