Azerbaijanâ€™s military doctrine to be discussed at the meeting of extraordinary session of the Parliament on June 8

Azerbaijanâ€™s military doctrine will be discussed at the meeting of extraordinary session of the Parliament on June 8, Zahid Oruc, a deputy of Milli Medjlis and member of the parliamentary committee on defense and security told APA. He said that today, the document was discussed by Defense Ministry and members of the Presidential Administration at the meeting of committee. Committee member noted that main typical features of Military Doctrine were sounded during discussion: â€œWhat are the real dangers and which steps will Azerbaijan take due to it? Undoubtedly, the main moment in the discussions was steps which would be taken for ending the Armenian occupation. Wide discussion of the document will be held at the plenary meetingâ€.

Oruj said that rapid armament in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, neighboring countriesâ€™ territorial pretension toward Azerbaijan, as well as formation of army alignments and other theses had been reflected in the document: â€œCooperation with NATO, attitude toward spread of Weapon of Mass Destruction has also been reflected in the documentâ€.

Committee member said that though, set up of military bases in the territories of Azerbaijan had been forbidden in the law on â€œNational Securityâ€, it had been considered an exception in the project of Military Doctrine: â€œIt was noted here that, Azerbaijan has authority on it in necessary times. I offered that, maintenance of such authority extends the maneuver plane of Azerbaijan. Generally, this document may be understood as a doctrine which set a mission before Armed Forces for liberation of the occupied territories of Azerbaijanâ€.

The document was recommended to plenary meeting of the Parliament after several discussions.
