OSCE Office in Baku prepared action plan on upcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan

He said an event on the media’s role in the elections would be held within the framework of the plan in June.
“Moreover, a number of TV programs, talk-shows will be prepared by the elections,” he said.

Ali Bilge Cankorel said they planned to hold trainings for observers in all the regions, meetings with heads of election commissions and executive powers and added that meetings would also be organized with the representatives of the political parties in the regions. Ambassador said the events would last till November. Ali Bilge Cankorel underlined that they would continue meetings in connection with the freedom of assembly.

Head of the OSCE Office in Baku also commented on the reports spread after the meeting with head of Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev. Ambassador said all issues had been discussed at the meeting, the press service of the Office had issued a statement about it.
“There was no pressure at the meeting. Therefore, I do not know what the matter is. We will continue holding meetings with the state bodies,” he said.

According to some media reports, Cankorel underwent pressure during that meeting.
