According to APA, the statement was issued at the Commission’s meeting on Thursday. CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov said Armenians were going to conduct next election game in the occupied territories and Azerbaijan was protesting this action which was against the international law. “The world community knows that Azerbaijani lands are under the occupation. There are resolutions of a number of international organizations, but Armenians refuse to fulfill resolutions of the organizations, which are based on the democratic principles. Undoubtedly there are powerful concerned sides in this issue”.

The statement declares that Armenia occupied more than 20 percent of the Azerbaijani lands and committed ethnic cleansing against the Azerbaijani people expelling one million Azerbaijanis from their homeland. “Armenia violated human rights and freedoms of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Azerbaijani territories, established illegal “Nagorno Karabakh Republic” and tried to organize election show there. The new election show in the occupied Azerbaijani lands is against the norms of international law, Constitution and laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This is an attempt by the Armenian political authorities to mislead the international community and world countries, which understand essence and reasons of the occupation and to tackle the peace talks”.

According to the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, no social group, organization or individuals can misappropriate authorities to get power and the elections and referendums must be held in accordance with the Constitution and Electoral Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, said the election officials in their statement. “CEC states that the “observers” intending to observe “elections” in the illegal republic should avoid indifference against the international norms. Their action will be considered as a violation of sovereignty of Azerbaijan”.

CEC declares that the elections and referendums can be held in the occupied lands only after their liberation and restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and return of IDPs to their homeland and in accordance with the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan. “The Central Election Commission considers such “elections” as illegal and doesn’t recognize it and calls on the international community to follow that”.
