President of Azerbaijan issues order to establish Government Commission in connection with Kur and Araz river flood

According to APA, the order says that forty regions were flooded as a result of intensive rainfall. According to the first reports, nearly 20 000 houses, more than 50 000 ha agricultural fields have been flooded, more than 300 houses have been destroyed and nearly 2000 houses and social facilities have seriously been damaged.

The most serious results of the natural disaster have been eliminated as a result of urgent measures taken by the central and local authorities, the suffered people have been evacuated and settled in the temporary shelters and provided with communal, domestic, medical and other services.

The Government Commission of following composition was established for elimination of the natural disaster results, restoration of the regional economy and facilities, compensating the damages on population and comprehensive measures for prevention of such cases in future.

The Government Commission was urged to assist the homeless people with necessary living conditions, to create conditions for rehabilitation of morally-psychologically suffered people, to prepare the list of damaged, removed and destroyed houses, infrastructure and social facilities, to estimate material damages on population, to determine amount of relevant compensation and to pay it and to prepare and to submit proposals to the President of the republic of Azerbaijan within a month for restoration and reconstruction of economy, social, agrarian, communal, energy, communication, transport and other infrastructure fields of the disaster regions, to provide the population with regular information, to report to the President of Azerbaijan about the work done in the disaster zone and to prepare and to submit proposals to the President within two months for prevention of such cases in future.
