Parliament discusses approval of Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan

According to APA, Speaker Ogtay Asadov said Zakir Garalov was working in the public prosecution system for long time: â€œHe is working as the Prosecutor General for 10 years and displayed estimable activity during his officeâ€.

Chairman of the parliamentâ€™s legal policy and state-building committee Ali Huseynov said the public prosecution system achieved serious progresses during the Garalovâ€™s office and conducted successful reforms in recent years. The discussions are continued.

According to the legislation, the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan is appointed every 5 years. Garalov served two terms as the Prosecutor General and his mandate expired on April 25.

President of Azerbaijan sent a draft law on re-appointment of Zakir Garalov to the post of Prosecutor Genaral to the parliament few days ago.
