Draft law on participation of Azerbaijan in peacekeeping operations recommended to parliament for third reading

Chairman of the Committee Ziyafat Asgarov said law on status of military servicemen and regulations on military service approved by 1997 October 3 law were proposed to be amended to strengthen social status of the military servicemen.

Draft law on participation of Azerbaijan in peacekeeping operations was discussed in third reading. Proposals of the lawmakers made during the second reading were discussed and the document was improved on the basis of some proposals. The law will determine regulations and rules of the countryâ€™s participation in peacekeeping operations held for prevention and settlement of local and regional conflicts. Azerbaijan will independently determine expedience and scale of its participation in peacekeeping operations.

The draft law was recommended to the parliament for approval.
