Azerbaijani President participates in opening of Republic urological clinic after overhaul

Baku â€“ APA. Republic urological clinic was opened after overhaul on January 21. APA reports that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva also participated in the opening ceremony. They acquainted themselves with the conditions in the center.

Republic urological clinic was one of the first experienced urological hospitals in the former Soviet Union, it was established under the leadership of Mirmammad Javadzadeh in 1966. Hemodialysis and artificial kidney laboratory were opened in the clinic in 1969, the first successful kidney transplantation operation in the South Caucasus and Near East was performed in 1971. The clinic played a great role in the development of urology and nephrology.

The clinic was overhauled in accordance with the order issued by Azerbaijani President in September, 2007, on the overhaul of the clinic and establishment of the kidney transplantation center.

It was said that 120-bed clinic had urological, hemodialysis, kidney transplantation, resuscitation, anesthesiology, roentgen diagnostics, immunological laboratory and other departments.
