Filming for the “Hungarian Rhapsody Project” is underway in Azerbaijan with the support of the Hungarian Ministry of Culture and Innovation, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, APA reports.
Within the framework of the project, a musical ensemble formed under the leadership of internationally renowned saxophonist and composer Balint Barsony brings together artists from both countries, fostering creative collaboration with Azerbaijan’s well-known mugham performers — People’s Artist Mansum Ibrahimov and Mugham Television Competition winner Kamila Nabiyeva. The main goal is to revive the musical traces of Turkic–Hungarian cultural ties through a modern and distinctive musical language.
Within the framework of the cooperation, video clips for the compositions “Mehriban olag” and “Sari gelin” have also been filmed. The filming took place in various locations across Azerbaijan — the International Mugham Center, the Maiden Tower, the Heydar Aliyev Center, Sea Breeze, Beshbarmag Mountain, and the Caspian Sea coast.
The “Hungarian Rhapsody Project” was established in 2014 under the leadership of Balint Barsony. As part of the visit, the ensemble also held a concert at the International Mugham Center.
The “Hungarian Rhapsody Project” has performed in Germany, Slovakia, Romania, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, China, and several other countries. These performances serve not only as musical programs but also as a creative platform strengthening cultural dialogue and ties between related peoples.
