"There are biased approaches in UNESCO and some other international organizations, but we should not stay away from these platforms, instead, we should speak our voice of truth louder," the President of Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev said as he delivered a speech at the conference titled "Study and Preservation of the Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Turkic World from the perspective of UNESCO" held at ADA University, APA reports.

He said that 21 monuments of Türkiye, 7 monuments of Uzbekistan, 6 monuments of Kazakhstan, 5 monuments of Azerbaijan, and 3 monuments of Kyrgyzstan were included in UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage.

"In general, 47 intangible cultural monuments of the Turkic world are included in this list, but there are 52 monuments of France and 57 monuments of China. However, at the same time, Anatolia and the Caucasus regions are among the ancient abodes of civilization, and there is a need to make the monuments here more widely known. For this, we need to prepare the right strategic way. This can be realized as a result of the joint activity of Organization of Turkic States, relevant state institutions, and the general public," he said.

In his speech, Shahin Mustafayev also voiced his suggestions in connection with the protection and promotion of shared culture. He said that the OTS countries can sign an interstate agreement or convention on the protection of shared Turkic culture, and also establish an institution to monitor these monuments, which its activity may be similar to that of UNESCO's Cultural Heritage Committee: "Also, it is important to compile the list of Intangible cultural heritage of the Turkic world, defined in the vision of OTS counties for 2040, and to create a coordination body for this.
