According to the information, the representatives from the countries of the Caspian region - Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan, as well as experts from UNESCO, Great Britain and Japan participated in the event held in a hybrid format.

The conference was organized in order to determine the cultural heritage objects to be submitted to the "Silk Road Volga-Caspian Corridor Cross-border Nomination", to discuss relevant documents with government representatives, national coordinators, local and international experts of the 5 countries included in the corridor.

At the same time, views were exchanged on the possibilities of influencing the development of trade and culture between the territories, countries and peoples that the historic Silk Road crossed.

The conference will go on until October 6.

It should be noted that since 2005, with the initiative of UNESCO's World Heritage Committee, the large-scale "Silk Roads World Heritage Serial and Transnational Nomination" program has been implemented. Within the first two stages of the program, two corridors were prepared as series nominations and included in the World Heritage List. The Republic of Azerbaijan joined the mentioned program in 2018.

In the third stage of the program, the Caspian coastline countries aim to submit the third corridor to the World Heritage List by preparing a joint nomination,

The annual sub-regional conferences held in Baku are organized within the framework of the relevant process.
