51 newly discovered monuments in Azerbaijan have been registered by state

The next meeting of the Expert Council on the Identification of Immovable Cultural Assets under the Ministry of Culture was held, the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage told APA.

It was noted that at the meeting, the Chairman of the Expert Council, Rector of the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, Professor Gulchohra Mammadova, provided information on the issues discussed. She said that at today's meeting, the issue of taking 25 objects of historical, architectural and archaeological importance under state protection was submitted for discussion by the council members.

Sabina Hajiyeva, Head of the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, provided information on the results of the work carried out by the Expert Council. She said that to date, 500 monuments and newly discovered monuments have been discussed in the Expert Council, and an opinion has been received from the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences in accordance with the legislation. In general, the number of monuments and newly discovered monuments for which an expert report is prepared exceeds 2000. The collected materials are gradually discussed at the meetings of the Expert Council. As a result of the work carried out, 51 newly discovered monuments were registered in 2025. 7 of them are located in Baku city, and 44 are located in the liberated territories.

At the meeting, the opinions and proposals of the Council members were heard on 17 objects located in the territory of the “Keshikchidag” State Historical and Cultural Reserve, 7 registered based on citizen applications, and 1 located in the territory of the Gubadly district, which were proposed to be included in the list of immovable historical and cultural monuments.

Decisions were made to take appropriate measures to register these historical, architectural and archaeological objects.
