The exhibition " Azerbaijani Carpet Splendor. Safavid Treasures" has opened at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, APA reports.
The opening featured 14 unique carpets and artistic embroideries from the 17th–18th centuries, showcased from the collection of U.S. citizen Amir Oskouei.
The Director of the National Carpet Museum, PhD in Art History and Honored Cultural Worker Amina Malikova delivered a speech providing brief information about the museum’s history, the construction of its new building, and its areas of activity. Highlighting the significance of the exhibition, Malikova noted that it will run until May 10, 2025.
Note that the displayed artworks include the globally renowned palace carpets with “Əfşan”, “Qoca”, “Xətai” (“Əjdahalı”) compositions.
The exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, and Amir Textiles and Rugs (Oskouei LLC), with bp Azerbaijan as the main sponsor and support from the US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Silk Way West Airlines.
