Council of Europeâ€™s Steering Committee for Culture bureau holds emergency meeting in Sofia

Baku. Ulkar Gasimova â€“APA. The bureau of Council of Europeâ€˜s Steering Committee for Culture holds its emergency meeting in Sofia, Bulgaria. Press service of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism told APA the meeting began on March 9 and will last until March 11. Council of Europe Director of Culture, Cultural and Natural Heritage Robert Palmer, Chair of the CE Steering Committee for Culture Deiana Danailova, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, member of the bureau Sevda Mammadaliyeva and adviser of the international cooperation sector of the international relations and culture program of the ministry Vasif Eyvazzadeh are attending the meeting.

The participants are discussing the results of the conference of the ministers responsible for culture of the Council of Europe member countries in baku on December 2-3, 2008, the issues arisen form the Baku Declaration on the Cross-Culture Dialogue, Project of the Artists for Dilaogue, CE Action Plan for the culture and cultural heritage in 2009, budget of the cultural projects in 2009, project of the cross-culture dialogue cities within the CE cross-culture dialogue projects, as well as the conference on the Culture and Development in Europe in post-Communist period to take place in Krakow, Poland on June 5-6, 2009.

The participants will also make proposals on the results of Baku conference and inviting the European countries to the conference of the ministers for culture of the Islamic countries in Baku in October, 2009. Azerbaijan invited 10 ISESCO members to the Baku conference of the Council of Europeâ€™s ministers responsible for culture for the first time and will invite 10 European countries to the Islamic countriesâ€™ conference of the ministers of culture.

Azerbaijani delegation met with Robert Palmer and CE Secretariat and submitted preliminary proposals of Azerbaijan on the results of Baku conference. The proposals will be discussed at the bureau meeting.
