Firangiz Alizadeh was appointed a curator of the 1st International Mugam Festival

Chairwoman of the Azerbaijan Union of Composers Peopleâ€™s Artist Firangiz Alizadeh was appointed a curator of the 1st International Mugam Festival to take place in March, 2009 in Azerbaijan. Preparations for the festival were already started, Firangiz Alizadeh told APA. She said it was a large-scale event and the guests from number of the countries would be invited to the festival. â€œOrganizing of such festival is a great contribution of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to the development of mugam. Inauguration of the new Mugam Center promoted the event. We are intending to hold the Mugam Festival on the eve of Novruz Bayrami. The guests were invited from abroadâ€. Alizadeh said aim of this festival is to prove that mugam is a mankindâ€™s music. â€œMugam saved its features. Uzeyir Hajibeyov said â€œthere were seven pillars in the Eastâ€. We woulkd like to show all seven music. We invited the guests beginning from Andalusia to China. Our masters will perform seven main mugams. There are many features in the basis of mugam. It is a traditional music and belongs to all mankind. We would like to show it within the festivalâ€.
