Abulfas Garayev receives ISESCO Director General

Baku. Ulkar Gasimova â€“ APA. Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfas Garayev received ISESCO Director General Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, who had come to Baku to attend the opening ceremony of the Cultural Year â€œBaku â€“ Islamic Culture Capital -2009â€, APA reports.
ISESCO Director General said Azerbaijan was a unique country. He said discussions were held on the conference of Islamic countriesâ€™ culture ministers in Baku within the framework of â€œBaku â€“ Islamic Culture Capital - 2009â€.
â€œIslamic culture does not only mean holding religious events. Of course here include religious, cultural and art events. In this respect, cultural heritage of Baku resembles the capital of Islamic culture,â€ he said.
Abulfas Garayev spoke about the importance of the meeting. The agenda of the meeting of culture ministers of Organization of Islamic Conference to be held in Azerbaijan was discussed at the meeting. Abulfas Garayev said Azerbaijan would chair the organization for the next two years.
â€œWe decided to prepare a special plan about it. I think that such meetings open a new stage. We are establishing cooperation with ISESCO on very strong columns. The events will pave the way for the development of our culture,â€ he said.
