Baku. Kamala Guliyeva –APA. Researcher Aydin Mammadov’s “Karabakh, its ancient tribes and toponyms” was published. The book is about the past of Karabakh, its ancient Turkic tribes and geographical names as their heritage, APA reports. Explanatory toponymic dictionaries, maps, timetables and diagrams enclosed to the book prove that Turkic tribes were settled there in ancient time. Te author said in the introduction: “Ancient Karabakh tribes participated in formation of Azerbaijani people’s ethno-spiritual resources over the centuries and created thousands of Turkic toponyms. There were no Armenian ethnos, tribe or family in Karabakh until the Arabic occupation of Caucasian Albany in 8th century AD”.
