President of International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions arrives in Baku today

Baku. Ulkar Gasimova–APA. President of International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Ellen Tise arrives in Baku on Monday, Press Service of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism told APA. Ms. Ellen Tise aims to involve Azerbaijani libraries in IFLA activity more actively, to develop cooperation comprehensively and to show IFLA involvement in forming of Azerbaijan model of information society. The President of Federation will attend on Monday evening the concert by the Symphonic Orchestra of Russian St. Petersburg Mariinsky Theater at the Azerbaijan National Philharmonic Hall. On November 25, she will be familiarized with the Akhundov National Library and President’s Library. The guest will meet with the minister of culture and tourism Abulfas Garayev.
IFLA (The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) is the leading international body representing the interests of library and information services and their users. The federation was founded in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1927 at an international conference. IFLA now has 1700 members from 150 countries around the world. Two Azerbaijani libraries – Akhundov National Library and President’s Library are IFLA members.
