Baku to host international conference “Islamic historic cities and modern architecture”

Baku. Ulkar Gasimova – APA. An international conference entitled “Islamic historic cities and modern architecture” will take place on June 2-3 in Baku, press service of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism told APA. Baku was declared the Islamic Culture Capital 2009 at the 5th Islamic Conference of the ministers of culture and the number of international events scheduled to be held in Baku for popularization and development of the Islamic culture and protection of the Islamic cultural heritage. The conference “Islamic historic cities and modern architecture” will be opened on June 2 at the Museum Center in Baku. The main goal of the conference is protection of the architectural heritage in the Islamic historic cities and historic atmosphere there and research of the new development, modern architecture and city planning and exchange of the experience between the experts. The conference will be organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and International Research Center for Islamic History, Culture and Art of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (IRCICA). Experts from Azerbaijan, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Britain and Lithuania will participate at the conference.
