Baku. Ulkar Gasimova – APA. Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced contest for elaboration of the general plan of Azerbaijan Ethnography Museum, press service of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism told APA. The contest was announced for fulfillment of the presidential order on the establishing of Azerbaijan Ethnography Museum issued on July 11, 2008. The museum is planned to be established in the open air in Gobu settlement of Absheron District. According to the terms of the contest, the museum should contribute to the protection and popularization of rich and ancient culture, traditions of Azerbaijani people. The complex will be built in 200 ha field in Gobu assigned for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The project should contain the architecture volume of nearby territory and planning solutions, and to consider the world experience and last scientific achievements in the field of ethnographic museum studies. The architects, sculptors and artists to participate in the contest are recommended to involve the museum workers, ethnographers, historians, writers and other experts in this work.
The area of the future museum should resemble all historical-ethnographic regions of Azerbaijan, generally Miniature Azerbaijan. General plan of the museum should be prepared and all leading exhibits (people’s houses, public buildings, religious monuments, watermills and windmills, workshops, thrashing-floor, public vehicles, hulling mills etc.) should be reflected there. Exhibits are being collected for the establishment of museum. Lost ethnographic monuments and things will be restored basing on archival documents and photos. It is also very important to collect things for the comfort of the houses. All historical-ethnographic regions of Azerbaijan (Shirvan, Karabakh, Nakhchivan, Absheron, Lankaran-Astara, Guba-Khachmaz, Shaki-Zagatala, Aran, Ganjabasar, regions of western Azerbaijan) should be reflected in the museum. Leitmotif of the museum should be unique Azerbaijani culture. Each region should reflect its natural-geographic condition and ethnographic structure. All workshops, weaving looms should be in operation. The works should be presented to Culture and Tourism Ministry by September 1. The first, second and third grade awards (AZN 30,000, AZN 20,000 and AZN 10,000) are being instituted for the winners of the competition. The works announced the winners of the competition are considered the state property and is given to the Culture and Tourism Ministry.
