The minister: “New list of the government-protected monuments was draftedâ€

Projects of Akhundov National Library and Ganja State Philharmonic Hall are completed, said Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev at the meeting of Cabinet of Ministers attended by the President of Azerbaijan. The meeting was dedicated to the results of first quarter of the year. The minister said reconstruction and repair works in the Azerbaijan State Art Museum, Nizami Cinema House, Azerbaijan State National Drama Theater and Mingachevir State Theater, construction of the new building of the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, museum and administrative building of the Gobustan State Historic-Art reserve and renovation of nearby areas were going on currently. “196 new spectacles and new productions of the old pieces were staged over the past two years for renewal of theaters and supporting the theater troupes. Nearly 40 spectacles expected to be staged this year by the government’s orderâ€.
The minister said despite renovation of the theater buildings on the basis of modern standards, it needed to stage good pieces to attract the audience to the theaters.
He said protection of the historic and cultural resources, increasing of the guard staffs, as well as prevention of the illegal use of lands in the reserve areas were also topical issues today. Garayev said according to the recommendations made for protection of cultural heritage, monitoring of the monuments throughout the country were conducted over the past two years. “The list of historic and cultural monuments protected by the government was drafted. The reserves of “Ateshgah Templeâ€, “Khinaligâ€, “Keshikchidagh†and “Yanardagh†were established over the past two years. We made proposals to declare the historic parts of the cities of Shamkir and Goygol as reserve areas.â€
