A session on Action on Water: Water Solutions for Climate Action took place within COP29, APA reports.
Special Water Envoy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Meike van Ginneken, stated that climate change manifests through water: "This means increased flooding. We saw this in Valencia and Barcelona, and floods are starting to happen more frequently."
She added that, in many ways, water is the problem we are discussing at COP29. "I think we need to make water part of the solution. We need to make water the engine of climate adaptation, and we need to do this together, thinking at three levels to turn water into the engine of climate adaptation."
