"By 2030, we plan to meet 30% of electricity demand from renewable energy sources," Majnun Mammadov Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, said during the COP29 presidency press conference, APA reports.
He also emphasized that agriculture is one of the most important sectors of the country’s economy, ensuring food security.
The minister added that Azerbaijan fully complies with its commitments under the Paris Climate Agreement: "In recent years, Azerbaijan has made significant progress in modernizing the agricultural sector through investments. This includes improving the potential, knowledge, and skills of personnel in the sector, as well as implementing subsidy measures. We are also preparing a National Adaptation Plan to address issues such as water scarcity and climate change in agriculture while contributing to the achievement of national climate goals. Azerbaijan remains highly interested in establishing and developing partnerships with other countries for the application of innovative solutions. We believe that agriculture will always be at the center of all efforts to address the problem of climate change."
