"46 percent of the population in Azerbaijan is engaged in agriculture," said Mukhtar Babayev, COP29 President and Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, during his speech at the "Baku Harmony Climate Initiative for Farmers" event within the framework of COP29, APA reports.
He stated that there are high emissions in the agricultural sector. In terms of climate resilience, investments in agriculture need to be increased. Private banks should also be involved.
"Collaboration and the creation of platforms are important for empowering farmers. The year 2026 has been declared the year of women farmers. This also emphasizes the significant role of women farmers in agriculture," the minister added.
