Russia’s State Duma has adopted a law establishing criminal liability for denying the genocide of the Soviet people, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
According to the law, up to 5 years of imprisonment is provided for the destruction, damage, or desecration of burial sites of victims of the Soviet people’s genocide, as well as monuments and other memorial structures located in Russia or abroad.
The law also provides for up to 3 years of imprisonment for denying or justifying the genocide of the Soviet people and for insulting the memory of its victims.
