Ukrainian United Opposition nominates its single candidate for 2015 presidential elections

Baku – APA. The Batkivschyna United Opposition has nominated the leader of the Batkivschyna Party, Yulia Tymoshenko, as a single presidential candidate, APA reports quoting kyivpost. The united opposition's council approved this decision by initiative of the council's chairman, Arseniy Yatseniuk, at an extended meeting on Friday. All members of the united opposition's council signed a relevant document.

On October 11, 2011, Pechersky District Court in Kyiv sentenced former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to seven years in prison for overstepping her authority when signing 2009 gas contracts with Russia.

The United Opposition includes 8 political forces. There are the two strongest opposition parties except these forces united under Batkivschyna – UDAR and Svoboda parties. The ruling Party of Regions, headed by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has gained 30% of the votes, Batkivschyna 25.54%, UDAR 13.96% and Svoboda 10.44%.
