Ukrainian court delays Tymoshenko tax evasion trial again

Baku-APA. A Ukrainian court on Tuesday postponed the tax evasion and embezzlement trial of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko for the 14th time, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Tymoshenko, now receiving treatment at a health center in the eastern city of Kharkiv, could not appear due to back pain.

Judge Kostyantyn Sadovsky set a new date of March 22 and told the Kharkiv court that Tymoshenko would be asked to participate via a video conference.

Tymoshenko, who is currently serving a seven-year jail sentence for abuse of power, has been charged with embezzling an estimated 405 million U.S. dollars and evading tax worth more than 87,000 dollars in the 1990s.

In January, the jailed opposition leader was accused by Ukraine's chief prosecutor of ordering the killing of a business rival 16 years ago.

Tymoshenko has denied all the charges, saying they are politically motivated.
