The President said that it is necessary to normalize relations between the two nations, efforts should be made, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.

Reminding the meeting of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Grigory Karasin and Georgian Prime Minister's special representative for normalization of relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze, V.Putin said: “Moscow sees "new, but timid" changes in Georgian government. Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili brought the situation to a deadlock. Russia can not change its decision to recognize the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia and Georgia can not recognize their independence. Therefore, I can not say what can be done under the circumstances."
