During his official visit to Turkey, Georgian PM Bidzina Ivanishvili discussed the construction of the new mosque in Batumi and the PM promised that the mosque will be built soon.
“The signing of this agreement with Turkey doesn’t mean that we agreed to the restoration of the Aziziye Mosque. The most important thing is that we have reached an agreement. We don’t still comment on the issue regarding the Aziziye Mosque, but the new mosque will be built. But it is not known, where the mosque will be built.”
Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze told journalists that the area for the mosque will be chosen by local authority of Ajara. According to her, a special area will be allocated for the construction of the mosque in Batumi: “This area has not chosen yet. Instead of this, Georgian specialists will restore Oshk and Ishkhan temples in Turkey,” – said Maia Panjikidze.
