Baku-APA. Armenian presidential candidate Paruir Hairikyan who just survived an alleged assassination attempt, said Friday that he expected that Feb. 18 election to be postponed, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
Kairikyan, one of the eight candidates, made the remarks in an interview with radio Liberty.
According to the Armenian Constitution, in case of " insurmountable obstacles" for one of the presidential candidates, the elections are to be postponed for two weeks.
On late Thursday evening, an assassination attempt was made at the presidential candidate, leader of the Union of National Self- determination Party Paruir Hairikyan who was immediately taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds near his shoulder. Currently he is in a stable condition.
The police has launched a criminal case about the incident.
