Lavrov says Russia, China discussed Middle East tensions and NATO crisis

The conflict in the Middle East, the militarization of the European Union, as well as the crisis within NATO, were discussed during the meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov while speaking about the results of his visit to China, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.

He noted that Russia and China support and are ready to continue supporting peace talks between the United States and Iran: “Russia and China have every opportunity not to depend on the ‘aggressive adventures’ of the United States.”

Lavrov also spoke about his country’s relations with the United States. He stated that Russia wants to restore investment cooperation with the US: “Relations between Russia and the United States have not been frozen, and some contacts are not openly discussed with the public.”

He also touched upon the conflict in Ukraine, emphasizing that Russia is open to negotiations regarding Ukraine.

Lavrov also stated that Russia will continue to provide political, economic and humanitarian support to Cuba.

Speaking about tensions with the European Union, the Russian foreign minister said that Europe’s militarization is continuing “very rapidly and strongly.”
